Black Truffle Sea Salt

Many people are intrigued by the black truffle. Some people have fallen in love with the taste and distinctive look of the spiny white substance that looks like the substance under a microscope. Black truffles have an excellent taste and color all their own, but they also have a reputation for being somewhat delicate and fragile.

It has been claimed that eating them before going to bed can create a sense of hunger and in some cases, this feeling is strong enough to keep people from eating anything else the following day. A number of them can only be found in France, Italy, Spain, and even New Zealand.

Salt and seasoning. If there were two things that the average person would want for Thanksgiving, they would be a turkey and a good variety of vegetables. Seasoning of the turkey is also important as it goes along way to making the turkey a more pleasurable experience. When used in the way that most turkeys are, salt and spices have an added flavor that makes them much more flavorful than plain ground meat.

Black truffle salt, when mixed with black pepper, garlic, and Rosemary, has the most powerful flavor of any seasoning. The black flavor comes from the bacteria from the black truffles that cause the food to taste that way. You will not find this same flavor in caviar unless you are willing to pay more money for the extra kick.

Black truffle salt is made from the truffles themselves. The best way to harvest them is by crushing them with a fork. The next step is to mix them with enough salt to make them rubbery but not to the point of crumbling them into a paste. They should then be soaked in a vinegar solution to prevent them from rotting.

The flavorings that go well with truffle sea salt are chervil, basil, parsley, and mint. They are rubbed into the meat and allowed to sit for an hour or so before carving. When the truffles are in the appropriate proportion, they do not need to be stored in the refrigerator.

Another alternative for truffle sea salt is a good old fashioned olive oil. Olive oil works especially well because it is very rich in flavor. It is also a good source of monounsaturated fats, which are essential to good health. With a small amount of this special olive oil, you can get a deep and rich flavor that is subtle and not overpowering.

In addition to black truffle sea salt, some people like to add some ground black pepper to their turkey. As a matter of fact, many people put more than just black pepper on their turkey. In fact, they may be adding black pepper, garlic powder, and even pepper in varying amounts.

Onions and garlic are other natural preservatives and they give the turkey a great taste. If you are looking for an alternative to using powdered onion and garlic powder, consider adding a little less of both to the mixture than you would a box of the actual substitutes.

Turkey is sometimes made the traditional way using fatback and maybe some salt and pepper. It is much easier to make a good tasting dish with this method because it is completely automated. hands off and has very little chance of being ruined.

For a truly authentic black truffle salt, it will need to be prepared by hand. either in a large bowl or a specialty item like a Pyrex measuring cup. but since there is no substitute for true black truffle salt, this should not be your first choice.
